We have been nominated for the Liebster Award! This is our first award nomination for the blog and we couldn’t be more excited! A big thank you to Sydney Kathryn for nominating our site!
Answer twelve questions from your nominator. Then nominate some of your favorite bloggers out in the blogosphere and ask them twelve questions of your own!
1. What do you want to be when you grow up?
This was a question I used to have trouble answering, but now at age twenty-seven I know exactly what I want to be when I get older; a photographer. I have always loved photography. Taking photos has always been a passion and hobby of mine. I took a photography course in high school and have been hooked ever since.
That must be why I love blogging so much. I get to combine my two favorite passions: photography and writing.
2. What is your favorite quote?
This is a tough question because there are so many quotes about life, love, and travel that I adore, but here is one of my favorites:
“Now more than ever do I realize that I will never be content with a sedentary life, that I will always be haunted by thoughts of a sun-drenched elsewhere.” ― Isabelle Eberhardt, The Nomad: The Diaries of Isabelle Eberhardt
3. What is your spirit animal?
I’m a dragon! According to the Chinese zodiac I was born the year of dragon. When I read this on my place mat in a Chinese restaurant as a child I loved the idea of the dragon being my sprit animal. So I embraced it. Who wouldn’t want to be a dragon? They breath fire, some can fly, and all are awesome. Have you seen How to Train Your Dragon? Awesome movie right? Don’t tell me after watching that you didn’t wish you had a dragon. I know, I know, dragons aren’t real, but you have to admit it’s so much better than a fish.
4. Where is your happy place?
Ford Street, the street I grew up on and lived for eighteen years.
With this being a travel blog and us not have an address to call home I find this hard to answer. So many places in the world invoke happiness in me. When I think of happy places I think of the cliffs of Ireland and how beautiful the waves look crashing down on the rocks. I reminisce about the Eiffel Tower with all of its twinkling lights at midnight on New Year’s. Or, I remember sitting on a train watching the rolling hills of Tuscany out the window as we make our way to Rome.
I guess if I really had to choose it would have to be the small town of Milford, Connecticut where my family lives. Being with my friends and family and sharing these experiences and moments with them makes me happiest.
5. What is your favorite book?
This is so hard for me to answer because I have so many books that I love. My two favorites that I can’t pick between are The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger and Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden.
6. Who is your style crush?
I love Kaley Cuoco! I am a Big Bang Theory fan and love all her outfits and her new hairstyle!!!
7. How do you turn you frowns upside down?
My husband usually is the one to do this. When I am really upset and sad he is my rock. He knows what to say and do to make me smile. I think this is one of his many super powers.
8. What is your comfort food?
Uh-oh I have to pick just one? Ice cream, but not just any ice cream: soft serve with rainbow sprinkles.
9. What is your favorite blog?
As far as reading other blogs there are so many great ones. My favorite one to read is World of Wanderlust.
Otherwise I would have to say my blog, The Nomadic Lifestyle, is my favorite blog. It is my outlet and my way of sharing my experiences with the world.
10. What historical figure would you like to have brunch with?
“I know I have the body but of a weak and feeble woman; but I have the heart and stomach of a king, and of a king of England too.” Elizabeth I, addressing English soldiers at Tilbury, July 1588.
Queen Elizabeth I because despite all the hardships in her childhood and the fact that she is a woman she becomes one of England’s greatest monarchs of all time.
11. Most prized possession?
My Kindle because at any moment I can be transported anywhere through time just by reading a book from the never ending, ever growing list in that magical device.
12. What song could you listen to on infinite replay?
The new song from Ellie Goulding, Love Me Like You Do. I heard it on the radio and loved it so I immediately bought the song. Then I watch Fifty Shades of Grey and heard it in the movie and loved it even more. The song is on constant replay in my song list. Yeah, yeah I know I am a fan of the Fifty Shades movie and I read all the books – shame on me. 😉
